On the evening of 1 September 2026, Yingtan Vice Mayor Hu Chunping met a delegation from the Shenzhen Virtual University Technology Transfer Promotion Association to discuss technology and industry cooperation between Shenzhen and Yingtan and the implementation of joint projects. The 1–2 September programme included a tour of the World Copper Capital Innovation Valley and discussions with local government, state-owned enterprise and university representatives on copper-industry innovation, research commercialisation and park operations.
Meeting with Vice Mayor Hu Chunping and follow-up discussions
On the evening of 1 September, Yingtan Vice Mayor Hu Chunping met the delegation and called for the two sides to identify viable projects and develop detailed implementation plans. The following day, the delegation toured the World Copper Capital Innovation Valley to learn about its development, resident projects and operating services, before attending a cooperation meeting on the third floor of the Tianyi Cloud Base.
The meeting was chaired by Zhang Aimin, Deputy Director of the Innovation Valley Task Force Office. Participants included Wu Huangrong, Director of the Yingtan Science and Technology Bureau, and Su Pengcheng, Party Secretary, Chairman and General Manager of Yingtan Industrial Holding Group Co., Ltd. Discussions considered how Yingtan’s copper-industry base could connect with Shenzhen’s university institutes, electronic-information industry, technology services, capital and professional expertise.
Connecting Shenzhen’s innovation resources with Yingtan’s copper industry
Peng Honglin, President of the association and former Chairman of Shenzhen Kunpeng Equity Investment Management Co., Ltd., outlined the purpose of the visit and the association’s resources. He identified five priorities for follow-up work: attracting research institutions, connecting research with industry, fund investment, talent development and industrial-cluster development.
Wu Huangrong noted that research commercialisation should not be equated simply with patent transfer. He highlighted the need for technology to raise the value added by Yingtan’s copper industry, alongside shortages of multidisciplinary innovation professionals and a need to strengthen trust between industry and academia. He advocated practical initial projects that could support commercially sustainable operations at the Innovation Valley.
Lu Shunxiang, Executive President of the association and Chairman of Shenzhen Wuhan University of Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., introduced its services covering institutional arrangements, innovation ecosystems and industrial implementation. Drawing on Shenzhen’s experience in technical, commercial and market validation, innovation-partner development and supply-chain coordination, he proposed cooperation on institutional foundations, ecosystem development, capital and talent.
Su Pengcheng and other Yingtan representatives described the Innovation Valley’s first year of operations and its four business areas: research, shared pilot-scale facilities, research commercialisation and talent development. Dr Wang Xiangmin, Chief Scientist of Shenzhen Guangming Science City Development and Construction Co., Ltd., identified complementary strengths in copper manufacturing, university research, electronic information and advanced equipment. He suggested initial projects in advanced copper materials, shared equipment and commercialisation, supported by Yingtan’s “1+8” institutional framework.

Other Yingtan participants in the reception and liaison programme included Ai Guodong, Director of the Yingtan Copper Industry Development Center and a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Yingtan Industry and Information Technology Bureau; Xiao Xiangpeng, Dean of the Advanced Copper Industry College at Jiangxi University of Science and Technology; Peng Zheng and Lu Zheng, Deputy Directors of the Yingtan Science and Technology Bureau; and Hu Lang, Deputy Director of the Yingtan Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.
They also included Wang Zhi, Chairman and General Manager of Yingtan Digital Industry Co., Ltd.; Yang Qian, Head of the Innovation Development Department at Yingtan Industrial Holding Group Co., Ltd.; Tang Zhong, Party Secretary and Director of the Yingtan Municipal Government’s Shenzhen Investment Promotion Office; and Hu Guogen, a member of that office’s Party Leadership Group and its Deputy Director.
The Shenzhen delegation comprised Peng Honglin, President of the association and former Chairman of Shenzhen Kunpeng Equity Investment Management Co., Ltd.; Lu Shunxiang, Executive President of the association and Chairman of Shenzhen Wuhan University of Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd.; Wang Xiangmin, Chief Scientist of Shenzhen Guangming Science City Development and Construction Co., Ltd.; Dandan Fei, the association’s Chief Legal Counsel and a partner at Guantao Law Firm in Shenzhen; and Qin Yu, Executive Secretary-General of the association and General Manager of Shenzhen Pengxi Education Consulting Co., Ltd. The visit brought research, industrial operations, capital, talent and legal-service resources into the cooperation discussions.
The exchanges covered attracting research institutions, matching enterprise technology needs with research, copper applications in emerging fields such as liquid cooling for computing infrastructure, industrial funds and coordinated investment and lending, talent development and jointly developed industry forums. The parties expressed their intention to continue project discussions, connecting Shenzhen’s research and capital resources with Yingtan’s copper industry to help research move from prototypes into market applications.
