The 2024 Anhui Lawyers Seminar on Complex Issues in Employment Compliance took place in Hefei on 28 December. Jointly organised by the Anhui Lawyers Association’s Labour and Social Security Committee and Corporate Compliance Management Committee, the seminar brought together more than 200 lawyers from across the province.
Li Jian and Ren Qinghua, Vice Presidents of the Anhui Lawyers Association, attended the seminar. Invited speakers and commentators included Xing Zhi’ang, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Anhui Enterprise Confederation and Deputy Director of the provincial Labour and Personnel Arbitration Commission, and Yu Simin, Head of the Second Civil Division of the Anhui High People’s Court.

Through keynote presentations, practitioner talks and a roundtable, participants discussed the phased increase in the retirement age, emerging forms of employment, continued performance of employment contracts, employee privacy and economic redundancies. The discussions drew on practical experience in protecting workers’ rights and managing employment relationships.

Dandan Fei, then head of the international practice at Anhui Qingheqing Law Firm, joined the roundtable on “Employment Compliance Management and the Social Value of Lawyers”. She and the other panellists discussed compliance practice, judicial assessment of employment compliance, the expertise businesses expect from their lawyers, and employment-related legal services for businesses expanding overseas.
