On 20 August 2025, a forum on artificial intelligence and the low-altitude economy, accompanied by a technology-and-art concert, took place at Ocean Glitter in Qianhai, Shenzhen. Organised by the AI Digital Competency Workshop with support from the Shenzhen Foundation for the Development of Symphonic Music and other organisations, the event brought together guests from investment, technology and the arts to explore industrial applications of AI alongside its possibilities in music.
Guests included Zou Xiaolu, Managing Director of Shenzhen Angel FOF Management Co., Ltd.; Lu Haiting, Managing Director of the Technology Transfer Fund at China Resources Capital Management Co., Ltd.; and Wang Hongpeng, President of the Digital Entertainment Branch of the China Culture and Entertainment Industry Association, a director of Poly Culture and Entertainment and a Non-executive Director of Joy Spreader Group.
Dandan Fei, Director of the International Business Department at Anhui Qing He Qing Law Firm, attended the event and joined a roundtable on the legal risks facing low-altitude economy businesses entering overseas markets.
Industry investment and overseas expansion
Chen Yuxian, Director of the AI Digital Competency Workshop, and Guo Yang, General Manager of Shenzhen Yuanli Industrial Co., Ltd., delivered opening remarks on behalf of the organiser and the venue. Presentations then examined investment in innovation and the application of AI to the low-altitude economy.
Zou Xiaolu described the fund manager’s work investing in 1,072 projects and nurturing 240 potential unicorn companies, sharing experience in supporting innovation and business growth in areas including AI and the low-altitude economy.
Wang Weixin, Chief Executive Officer of Shenzhen Zhonganfei Technology Co., Ltd., discussed the opportunities emerging from the application of AI in this sector.
During the roundtable, Lu Haiting considered the balance between technological barriers and market demand from an investor’s perspective, while Wang Weixin examined obstacles to commercialisation. Dandan Fei discussed European and US drone regulatory requirements and cross-border risk management, bringing a legal perspective to overseas expansion. Together, the discussion addressed the practical transition from innovation to commercial use through investment, industry and legal perspectives.
From industry discussion to technology and music
Huang Xiaoshu, Secretary-General of the Shenzhen Foundation for the Development of Symphonic Music, joined other representatives of the arts community. Muse Arc, the independent band Deep X and Hemei Music provided co-organising support for the event.
That evening, Farewell and Rebirth: Ryuichi Sakamoto 2025 was performed in Ocean Glitter’s water courtyard. Against a setting of waterfalls and greenery, piano, digital music and vocals extended the forum’s discussion of artificial intelligence into musical expression.
Li Keshi, Chief Producer of AllSaints Music Group’s AI Lab and a filmmaker with a background in Japan, introduced the use of AI to explore elements of Ryuichi Sakamoto’s musical language and took part in the performance. Pianist Hanhan Li, a lecturer at the Arts Center of Southern University of Science and Technology, contributed piano performances. A holder of a US Doctor of Musical Arts degree, she combined professional piano performance with digital music to explore the meeting of classical music and AI.
A section titled AI Rebirth explored the role of algorithms in musical creation and interpretation, followed by a rock performance from DeepX band EchoZ. Moving between industry investment, cross-border business, piano and digital music, the event brought commercial discussion and the arts into a shared setting for exchange.
